Hamidul Bari is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) specializing in Civil Engineering, with a career spanning since 2012. He has held dynamic roles with both local and international stakeholders, contributing significantly to sustainable development. His diverse experience includes collaborations with esteemed organizations such as RUPAYAN Housing Estate Limited, China Railway Group Limited (CREC), Miyamoto International, The Civil Technology and Consultant (Civil-Tech), STAAD Engineers, and more.

Hamidul completed his BSc in Civil Engineering and MSc in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2012 and 2018, respectively.

In the realm of consultancy, Mr. Bari has played pivotal roles with ACCORD/RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) and ALLIANCE, buyer’s associations of Europe and North America, focusing on safety in the ”Ready-made Garments” sector in Bangladesh. His expertise extends to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system, and he has collaborated with various real estate/housing companies in Bangladesh, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of sectoral policies and regulations. Hamidul is adept at applying ISO management tools (e.g., QMS: 9001, EMS: 14001, and OHS: 45001) while upholding professional conduct, commitment to society, health and safety, and environmental regulations.

In the academic sphere, he has authored research papers on green and structural lightweight concrete published in Q1 international journals such as Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier, UK) and Sustainability (MDPI, Switzerland). His involvement in an international research team and as a scientific paper peer reviewer for renowned journals (e.g., IJPE, Taylor & Francis Group Ltd., USA & UK; ESPR, Springer Nature (New York, USA); NEPT, Technoscience Publications, India) underscores his commitment to advancing knowledge in the field.

With a wealth of experience in building and bridge design, structural health monitoring, forensic investigation and restoration, structural safety assessment, engineering assessment, seismic and non-seismic retrofitting, Hamidul possesses a versatile skill set. His expertise spans various structural materials and systems, including normal and high-strength concrete, reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel, steel-concrete composite, and 3D space framing systems, earthquake engineering, and soil-foundation-structure interaction.

Hamidul’s knowledge is rooted in the understanding of local conditions and international codes and standards, as evidenced by his proficiency in Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2006/2020, The Dhaka Building Construction Rules, 2008, the Master Plan/Detailed Area Plan of Dhaka City, 2022-2035, and LEED v4.1–US Green Building Council.

Furthermore, he has actively participated in numerous international and national training sessions, workshops, and seminars, accumulating a substantial Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of 135 hours per year, approximately, from 2012 to 2024. This commitment reflects his dedication to staying abreast of the latest advancements in the ever-evolving field of civil engineering. In addition, he was an honoured speaker at an earthquake and structural engineering workshop on June 2, 2023. The title of the workshop was “Reinforced Concrete Special Moment Frame and Connection Details with Examples as Per BNBC-2020.” It was organized by the Bangladesh Professional Structural Engineers Association (MPSEA) and held at the BUET Graduate Club in Dhaka. Moreover, he was an invited delegate to an international technical event titled “Structural Engineering: Preserving Past, Protecting Present, Building Future,” which was held in Siam Kempinski, Bangkok, Thailand, on May 22–23, 2023. This event is jointly organized by Computers and Structures (CSI), USA, and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

Mr. Bari holds the highest engineering licensure in Bangladesh and is an active member of esteemed local and global professional societies. Notably, he is registered with PEng Reg. No.: 01/393 by the Bangladesh Professional Engineers Registration Board (BPERB) of The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Additionally, he is a Life Member of IEB with the membership number 39987 and holds the designation of a Registered Structural Engineer in the Electronic Construction Permit System (ECPS) of the Capital Development Authority of Bangladesh (RAJUK) under DMINB/CE/(C:LS/STR/SD/PS/CS/CR)/0528. He also holds a similar registration with the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) under CDA/CE/0452. Further, Mr. Bari is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) with the membership ID GMICE: 93708307 in the UK. He is also affiliated with professional designations such as MACI and MPSEA. Moreover, he is recognized as an Approved Consultant at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and ACCORD/RSC in the realm of safety and sustainability.
